Junkyard

Exploring the world around me.

(no digital filters or effects on these bad boys!)

Photos and videos from my daily life and what I call “playtimes.” Before you poke around, here’s a quick explanation of the latter:

a random selection of photos and videos (no audio) from playtimes and daily life

photos and videos (yes audio) documenting each playtime

Playtime

a period of time, typically 1-5 hours long, that I spend at home or in my studio playing with some combination of the following…

(noun)

light

random objects + materials

costumes

projection

sound

optical instruments

(kaleidoscopes, mirrors, lenses, prisms, magnifying glasses)

some of my fave photos from playtimes

scraps

playtime

Some videos are less than 3 minutes long and some are over 4 hours long.

You can watch videos from start to finish, but that’s just one way to do it. You can also scroll through the video, jump to random timestamps, click play on multiple videos and listen to the combined sounds while you look at photos; play around! As with everything on this website, interact (or don’t) however you want to.

Click a date to see videos and photos from that playtime!

Other things to note:

  • To access video controls (eg. subtitles, full screen), click the little arrow in the bottom right corner of each video.

  • Click an image to enlarge it.

  • I don’t edit sound for the videos [do you know how long that would fucking take????]. Subtitles are autogenerated by vimeo.

  • Content and audio-spike warnings are labeled below each video.

  • Videos labelled “puter” were taken on my computer and those labelled “blocky” were taken on my phone.

Fun fact: this is only the media that I’ve managed to finish processing (organizing, compressing, uploading to vimeo, reviewing for content warnings). I’ve been do playtimes 2-3 times a week more or less since late 2024, so… yeah this is a pretty small sample.

    • 4.15.26 - realized I need to figure out a system that automatically logs changes, cuz I’m probably gonna keep forgetting to do so manually

    • 1.21.26 - added to “things to note” // added headers, descriptions, and content warnings for Jan 17 playtime videos

    • 1.19.26 - added “updates log” // added description // added Jan 17, 2026 playtime

Light fuckery

The photos that most excite me tend to involve playing with light, hence the section title.
